Goodbye Aunty Atlas

We left Tafaroute with the plan to get to Essaoiura on the coast north of Agadir. The road north west from Tafaroute is another stunner. The road clings to the mountain face for mile after mile. At some point in its past, this must have been a tough area to live if you look at where the villages are built. Each sits on top of the biggest hill in the area, like little fortresses. Some are clearly still lived in, but most are now ruined.

We got as far as Agadir and once we saw the beach, the plan to go to Eassaoira was ditched. We have been riding for 10 days straight and both feel like a spell off the bike is called for so like little boys went to play in the sand.

So we mucked around on the beach and they looked at us a bit funny, cant think why.

Oh...and the sea looks very nice there too although there is reputed to be a stong undertow so swimming can be a bit dodgy. I was expecting to find freezing cold water like off the coast of Portugal but it was very pleasant.....at least up to the knees.

And took some sneaky pictures of people because the light was so good. In fact, we might even stay another day. Agadir is nothing like 'normal' morocco. It is more like a southern european beach resort than anything else. This city was rebuilt in a modern style after a devastating earthquake in the 1960s when 17,000 people were killed.

Distance 155km
